Put your agent on Telegram

A plain, step-by-step guide to giving your agent a Telegram bot — no coding, about five minutes.

Why Telegram

Telegram is a free messaging app most people already have. Putting your agent on it means a customer can talk to you without installing anything new or making an account — they tap a link (or scan a QR code) and they are chatting. Because they arrive with their own Telegram account, your agent can also remember them between visits, which is why a QR code on a restaurant table or a shop counter works so well: a regular is greeted as themselves, not as a stranger every time.

This guide assumes no technical background. If you can copy and paste, you can do this.

What you'll need

  • The Telegram app, on your phone or computer.
  • Your agent, already created in agent4.io.
  • About five minutes.

Step 1 — Open the deploy screen

In your dashboard, open the agent you want to connect and choose Deploy. Pick the Telegram tab. The screen walks you through the same steps below and checks everything worked at the end, so you can follow it instead of this page if you prefer.

Step 2 — Create the bot in Telegram

Every Telegram bot is created by Telegram's own helper, called BotFather.

  1. In Telegram, search for @BotFather and open the chat (it has a blue verified tick).
  2. Send the message /newbot.
  3. It asks for a name (what people see, e.g. "Rosa's Kitchen") and then a username (must end in bot, e.g. rosas_kitchen_bot).
  4. BotFather replies with a token — a long line that looks like 123456:ABC-DEF.... That token is a password for your bot, so don't share it publicly.

Step 3 — Paste the token into agent4.io

Back on the Deploy → Telegram screen, paste that token into the box and choose Connect bot. That's the whole connection. agent4.io shows you a QR code and a link to your new bot.

Step 4 — Try it, then share it

Scan the QR code with your phone, or open the link, and send your bot a message — you should get your agent's answer back. Once it works:

  • Print the QR code on a table tent, a receipt, a flyer, or a poster.
  • Share the link in your bio, a newsletter, or a reply — anywhere your customers already are.

Good to know

  • The agent is the same everywhere. Telegram, your website widget, and WhatsApp all reach the same agent, the same knowledge, and the same memory of each customer. You set the agent up once.
  • You can turn it off. Disconnecting the bot in the dashboard stops it immediately; the token can be revoked in BotFather too.
  • It answers in your customer's language automatically, so one bot serves a local and a visitor side by side.
